Bobi Wine speaks out on Museveni appointed NRM leaning EC team

The president of Uganda’s leading opposition political party – The National Unity Platform (NUP) hon Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert popularly known as Bobi Wine, has attacked President Museveni for appointing renowned members of the ruling party on the Electoral Commission (EC).

“Mr Museveni no longer wants to pretend. He has decided to appoint renowned NRM cadres to the Electoral Commission- a clear message to Ugandans that he has no intention of ever holding a free and fair election!,” Says Mr Kyagulanyi.

Mr Wine also had no kind words to Justice Byabakama whom he accused of organising what he called sham elections in 2021; “the pack is led by Mr. Simon Byabakama Mugenyi as Chairperson. Mr. Byabakama presided over the sham 2021 presidential election in which he declared false results indicating dictator Museveni as the ‘winner'”.

“He was also the lead prosecutor in the trumped-up rape case against Dr. Kizza Besigye who had sought to challenge Museveni in the 2006 election, and later the bogus PRA treason case,” he explained.

Among the list is Stephen Tashobya a senior cadre of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) which he represented as MP for Kajara County.

Kasule Robert Sebunya is another NRM cadre and the immediate former MP for Nansana Municipality on the NRM ticket.

“It is widely believed that he (Hon Ssebunya) usurped that victory,” says Bobi Wine.

“Anthony Okello is another cadre of NRM which he represented as MP for Kioga County. Okello survived lynching in 2017 when he attempted to force his constituents to agree to the removal of the constitutional presidential age limit,” claims Mr Kyagulanyi.

The other members are also said to be renowned sympathisers of Museveni and his criminal regime.

“Museveni shamelessly sees nothing wrong with putting such people in charge of a commission that should be impartial, organising free and fair elections! If this is not enough provocation to the people of Uganda, I don’t know what ever will be,” he said

The former presidential candidate Hon Kyagulanyi called all Ugandans to oppose the appointed committee saying that it has no capacity to organize a free and fair general elections; “It is time for all Ugandans and friends of Uganda to see that we are entirely on our own, and rise to the occasion so that we redeem our nation from this absolute mess!”
