Breaking! One dead, scores injured in Zombo road crash

One person has been confirmed dead and more than 40 Christians are injured after a fuso truck they were travelling in overturned at Zeu Lorr trading centre in Zeu Sub-County Zombo District on Saturday 30 December at around 6:45 Pm.

The fuso fighter with registration NO UBN 061T,  was carrying Christians from different Sub-Counties of Nebbi and Pakwach Districts who subscribe to a pentecostal assembly of God.

The Christians were coming back from a crusade in Alangi Sub-County Zombo District that ended today.

Pastor  Ocaki Pastore of Alia central church in Alwi Subcounty who was onboard escaped with some minor injury.

He confirmed that one lady only identified as Juliet, a Christian from Wadelai sub-county was pronounced dead at Zeu Health Center III in Zeu Sub-County.

Roy Masendi, The District councillor of Zeu Sub-County said the accident happened when a conductor took over after the driver went out shortly.

Masendi added that ” the truck overturned as the conductor was trying to climb the hill at Zeu Lorr trading centre”.

Several people with critical injuries have been rushed to Zeu Health Center III and Nyapea Hospital respectively.

The identity of the driver was unclear by press time.

Early last year, a truck carrying traders also overturned at Zeu Lorr trading centre,  leaving one person dead.
