Shock! Nebbi Victims hospitalized after consuming Witch Doctor’s charm failing to respond to treatment – Health Officer

Concerns have emerged over the deteriorating condition of  victims hospitalized at Angal Hospital after consuming witch doctor’s charm in LocJudongu village  Padwot sub-county Nebbi District.

The LC III chairperson of Padwot Sub-county Denis Opio revealed that the Witch doctor who is currently on the run ” was invited by a local farmer identified as Carlo Omito, to recover his 17 herds of cattle reportedly stolen from a kraal in the area”.

He added that the Witchdoctor after performing his said ritual later “forced people to consume the charm”  which got them paralyzed immediately. He said 13 of the victims were rushed to Angal Hospital and one person was admitted at Midyere Health Center III.

He also confirmed that Amongst the admitted victims, One person identified as Gilbert Owaki 32, has been pronounced dead and the twelve victims remain in critical condition.

Dr Patrick Kumakech of Angal Hospital confirmed receiving the victims in critical condition  adding that they are failing to respond to treatment.

” We received 13 victims who claimed to have been charmed by Witchdoctor yesterday evening, up to now we have not gotten any clear history, They came when they were all unconscious. We have tried to manage some of them however, they are not responding to our medical treatment, so far we have lost one person this morning” Dr  Kumakech told the whispereye news .

Reportedly, The deceased family and the ticked-off members of the public had threatened to torch the houses of the farmer,  who invited the witch doctor but they were calmed down by police officers from Nebbi Central Police Station headed by OC Julius Mugombeisha.

Mugombeisha who appealed for calm also revealed a plan of transferring the victims to another facility for better treatment.

Carlo Omito a farmer who invited the witch doctor is in police custody to aid in the investigation.

This Publication understands that security is currently beefed up in the area to avoid any possible escalation of violence in the area 

This come just months after 15 were also hospitalized after consuming a witch doctor’s charm in Nebbi Municipality.
