Pakwach: Four arrested over Murder and aggravated Robbery

Following two separate incidents in  which  two boda boda riders were  murdered  and robbed of their motorcycles on  10th and 05th December 2023 respectively,  Police in Pakwach have arrested four suspects to aid in the investigation.

The murders according to the westnile regional Police spokesperson Josephine Angucia,  occurred in  Adiri village and  Borowio village in  Ragem upper parish, Ragem sub-county  Pakwach district.

The deceased were identified as Openjimungu Godfrey male juvenile aged 16,  and Odongo Rogers male adult 22 years old all boda boda riders.

The West Nile regional Police spokesperson Josephine Angucia said in a statement that  “two motorcycles were robbed from the two victims in the two different incidents, and the motorcycle numbers being  UFX 881F and UFS 094P respectively all Bajaj Boxer types” 

Angucia identified the suspects as ” one Jakisa Joel Dan alias Japyem Joel male adult 19 years old was accordingly arrested and they recovered one motorcycle UFX 881 F from him. As inquiries continued, another suspect Waniiye Derrick, male adult 23 years old was arrested, and motorcycle UFS 094 P was recovered from him in his possession. 

More two suspects in addition to the above have been arrested namely, Acaye Mark male adult 23 years and Okoth Yusuf 68 years old the father of Japyem. They were all arrested with evidence of having participated in the two murders and robberies”.

One of the suspect  Jakisa Joel Dan of ” robbing motorcycles from Kampala and sells them in West Nile Region and vise-versa”before warning  members of the public against such unlawful practices .

“We have observed that it has been a common practice among some youths to connive with their allies to steal motorcycles from Kampala and elsewhere in the country to be sold in West Nile or across the border to DR Congo, and viceversa.

We, therefore, urge the general public not to take the law into their hands through mob justice, but to share information on such criminals with police to break their rackets, arrest and prosecute them before a court of law.” Angucia said
