Tension as two people killed in a protracted land conflict in Zombo

Two People were killed, scores injured and more than  8 grass thatch houses were set alight as a result of the protracted land dispute in Paronya  Village, Afuda Parish Jangokoro Sub-county Zombo District.

The incident happened at around 5:30 pm on November 28  local leaders say.

A relative to one of the deceased identified the two as  Udubu Hillary and 80-year-old Angelina  Thikulu,  both residents of Paronya Village.

He said, “For my grandmother Angelina Thikulu, she was badly hacked and we rushed her to Nyapea Hospital where she died later while Hillary Udubu died on the spot. Many people are currently displaced and injured”.

The LC1 chairperson of the attacked village briefly said” They descended on us with bows and arrows because of  the land conflict that has existed for years between them, now we have lost two innocent lives ” 

It’s reported that the  community of  Paronya Village came under attack by the  charged community members from the two villages of Ogalu and Omoko

Gilbert Lenga, The LC1 chairperson of the neighbouring Pavur Village Yada Parish told this Publication “Many people have lost their properties and are taking refuge in his village that he stressed needs more support”.

By press time, local leaders said no security presence was registered at the crime scene.

Recently over 200 huts were set alight in Zombo following the death of one person who was killed as a result of the protracted land dispute in Aka Sub-county.
