Members of Zombo District Boda Boda association has joined hands with locals of Nyapea Sub-county to work on a road that connects to major institutions in the area after it’s condition worsened as a result of the continuous pounding rain.
The boda boda riders took matters in their own hands after a Sick mother being taken to Nyapea hospital fell with a boda boda rider yesterday due to the sorry state of the road.
The roads is the only route to major institutions like Nyapea Hospital which is the only general Hospital in Zombo, Nyapea College, Nyapea Catholic parish headquarters, Nyapea Boys and Girls primary schools amongst others.
Derick Oyirwoth, One of the boda boda riders whilst working on the road said ” it has become hellish whilst taking sick patients to the hospital in times of emergency”
Ovoya Nyapea from Akwanji Community accused leaders of “failing to work on the road intensionally”
Okethwengu Geoffrey a community member wondered why the road which connects to big institutions have been neglected for long yet most people are using the road to access many services like health, prayers, education amongst others.
The road from Akwanji to Nyapea Mission is under the District local government jurisdiction.
Recently, a photo of a stuck police van on that road went viral on social media.
The chairperson Zombo District Boda Boda association Fred Onenarach told the whispereye news that “we are doing the work to save lives because yesterday one of us fell with a sick patient here”
He called upon the District to consider the road as a ” priority given its relevance to the people in the area and the District at large”.
