Zombo: Multi-million health facility nears completion

Work is progressing successfully at Otheko Health Center 2  in Otheko Parish Paidha  Sub-County Zombo District.#WhisperEyeNews

Otheko Health Centre II is the only running destination for the farming community of Paidha Sub-County.

 Months ago, Construction work at the facility was briefly halted after funds were retrieved from the national treasury. However, The District has received the funds to complete the work.

The facility according to Zombo District local government upon completion will be automatically upgraded to Health Center III.

Another health facility of a similar status to be upgraded to Health Center III  is under construction in Aka Sub-county.

Apparently,  construction of the facility’s  General ward has taken shape and the plan is to also give the old structure a facelift.

Recently, Zombo District Through the Ministry of Health received Ugx  800 million  Under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfer Programme ( UGIFT)  for constructing and procuring equipment for the facility.

The LC5 chairperson of Zombo District James Oruna Oyullu commended Government of Uganda for the support.

The site Engineer told this Publication that work is at 80%.

The LC5 chairperson of Zombo District James Oruna Oyullu during an inspection of the ongoing work at the facility recently said “The construction might come to full completion in two months’ time”

Oyullu also commended the Government of Uganda for this support towards the health sector in the District.

Otheko Health Center 2 recently received all its equipment From the ministry which is being kept at the District headquarters.

A nother section of the General ward that is under construction at Otheko Health Center II in Otheko Parish Paidha Subcounty Zombo District.

Both Otheko and Amwonyu Health Center II in Paidha and Aka Sub-counties have elicited excitement amongst locals ladened by the deep-seated challenge of looking for health facilities afar couples with drug stock-out.

Out of the District population of over 250,000 about 214, 932 are rural based.

The District has 8 Health Center IIIs of which 2 are privately owned. The District has 1 Church Founded General Hospital and one Government owned Health Center IV.
