Why Smart Sam Foundation is supplying metallic beds for Zombo health facilities

Smarts Sam Foundation, A community-based organization in Zombo District has started donation of metallic hospital beds to health center II facilities in Zombo.

Zombo District local government has a total of 8   health centers II of which 2 are privately owned.

The organization say the move is aimed at bridging the healthcare gap and above all help the community.

On November 3, A bed was delivered at Padea Health Center II where the whole distribution started.

Health Center II in Uganda are not having capacity to admit Patients.

The beds are to be delivered the following weeks to other health facilities.

Sam Kumakech, The executive Director of the Smart Sam’s foundation told this Publication that the move is aimed at  “giving comfort and support to the local people ladened with many health challenges”

Asked about the source of funding for the donation, He said ” as organization, we lobby for our people and we call upon every one to come in and we help our community as we wait for a bigger support from our government”.

Padea Health Center II in Padea Town Council Zombo District was established in 1998

Padea Health Center II situated along Uganda -DR Congo border in Padea Town Council Zombo District on average receive more than 50  patients daily. The facility is overwhelmed with Patients from DR Congo especially when they get a wind of news about drug supply from national medical stores.

Sam Kumakech emphasize the need for upgrade of the facility to health center III given it’s placement couple with the population of the border town.

The LC3 chairperson of Padea Town Council Melki Onyutha Orwothuwun has expressed happiness over what the Smart Sam’s foundation has done. He said it was a fulfilment of the Community’s demand through his office.

Onyutha now ” emphasize the need for upgrade of the facility to health center III to help the community “.

Padea Town Council has a population of more than  5000 People.

During delivery of the bed at the facility, many patients who went to seek for medical care were so amazed. They commended the organization for their effort before  appealing  to the government to upgrade the facility to health center III.

Zombo District has a  total population of 294,230 people. The District has 9 health center III of which 3 are privately owned and 8 health center II of which 2 are privately owned, It has 1 general Hospital which is church founded and 1 health center IV.

Zombo District has 15 lower local governments of which 9 are situated along the Uganda -DR Congo border. Health facilities along the borders are majorly overwhelmed.

Recently, Smarts Sam Foundation also constructed a pivotal ” Leda footbridge” that connects Abanga and Athuma Sub county before organizing a fund raising marathon for Padea Health Center II.
