Bamunanika residents missing Muyingo’s leadership

The 2021 polls were a nightmare to many NRM politicians in the central region who lost their seats massively to the opposition especially to the National Unit Platform led by Hon Robert Kyagulanyi .

The 2021 wave did not spare Hon Dr. John Chrysotome Muyingo who lost his MP seat for Bamunanika County to his former Personal Assistant Hon Robert Ssekitoleko. In the 2011 elections, Ssekitoleko was a personal assistant to Muyingo who also acted as the head of his campaign team. In 2016, Ssekitoleko took the first step to unseat his boss but lost miserably. 2021, he managed to be successful giving an opportunity to the Bamunanika residents to weigh the effectiveness of the two leaders as to who is the best choice for them.

Just half way his term, Ssekitoleko has already faced criticism from the electorate accusing him of failing to do anything for them. In mid September this year, he survived to be scavenged by an angry mob in Zirobwe during the vigil of the late Deo Nsereko the former LCV Chairperson Luweero District with the mourners accusing him of always using the microphone to insult and abuse Dr JC Muyingo who has done alot for them.

During the reign of Muyingo as area MP, residents say he managed to bring together people who always found themselves at logger heads during elections but however Ssekitoleko as MP keeps dividing people by telling the public that whoever supports the NRM is an enemy of Uganda.

A one Mukasa Jimmy a voter in Bamunanika said that Muyingo was so passionate about seeing the children in the area getting education by giving them scholarships as well as making sure the the government aided Schools get all the required services to enhance the learning of the children in the area.

It has also been ascertained that Dr Muyingo was always on the forefront of hunting for market for the farmers in his constituency as well making sure that feeder roads are in good condition to enhance transportation of goods and services.

To many residents, they say they miss him as MP vowing to vote him back to office should he offer himself up to stand in the 2026 general elections.
