Hailstorm wreak havoc in Nebbi District, Church destroyed

The Pounding rain with devastating hailstorms has left a serious trail of destruction in Jupangira sub-county Nebbi District over the weekend. #whispereyenews

Many houses were either deroofed or reduced to rubble by the strong wind.

The leaders of St Mark Church Of Uganda Udende in Nyarwodho Parish Nebbi Diocese  Church Of Uganda have appealed for support after a heavy downpour with devastating winds reduced the church to rubble.

The Parish Chairperson of Nyarwodho Bosco Munguryek said ” Many properties in the church destroyed were chairs, solar panels, public address system, 130 pieces of iron sheets amongst others, we appeal for support from well_wishers”.

The Church catechist Joseph Alithum said,” The politicians from the District and other places need to help us in a situation like this”.

The hailstorm also left a trail of destruction on houses in different parts of Jupangira sub-county.

This reporter was able to witness fallen trees on people’s houses in different parts of the Subcounty though no casualty has been registered.

Andrew Ongom, The Chairperson of the Goli  Business community said many businessmen in the area are reeling in pain as building housing their businesses was equally deroofed.

He appealed for support from the disaster committee of the district to come and assess the situation in the area .

” The business community is just in pain, houses got destroyed, many properties were destroyed, let the District disaster committee come and witness this destruction for themselves” Ongom Said.

Last week, many houses were equally reduced to rubble in Paidha Town Council Zombo District as a result of the driving rain.

The trail of these destructions according to environmental experts mainly arises from human industrial and agricultural activities like serious cutting down of trees that can act as windbreaks.
