Uganda At 61 : It’s only the colonisers skin colour that changed, says MP Mpuuga

The leader of Opposition Hon Mpuuga Mathaius Nsamba speaks out as Uganda makes 61 years old.

On this day Uganda attained independence from United Kingdom at a ceremony held in Kololo.

9th October Dr Milton Apollo Obote was the first elected Prime Minister of Uganda as Sir Maj Gen Muteesa Edward was the first President of Uganda in a ceremonial capacity.

The Member of Parliament representing Nyendo Mukungwe Rt Hon Mpuuga Nsamba has come out to condemn police brutality against police officers and UPDF that forcefully sealed off National Unity Platform headquarters in Kamwokya .

He took to X (formerly known as twiiter ) to speak about the happening now.

He posted, “The military siege of our party headquarters & the arrest of our Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya and Spokesman Joel Ssenyonyi speaks volumes about our country’s democratic credentials”

“This happening on a day when the country is supposedly celebrating its 61st Independence Day only shows that we are still under colonialism”, he added.

The Vice President of NUP in Buganda said , “it’s only the colonisers skin colour that changed”.

This comes when NUP President Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu was arrested at Entebbe Airport and whisked away to his home in Magere last week on 5th October 2023 by SFC soldiers.

By press time Military trucks manned by sharp shooters are moving around Kamwokya NUP headquarters as UPDF arrests party supporters.

Most of those arrested are being dumped on police trucks and some are whisked away in drones , a car famous for abducting NUP activists.

NUP is a registered political organization in Uganda with a mandate to hold political gatherings at all times it seems fit.
