Zombo District Boda Boda association comprises more than 1500 members.

The Motorcycles given on loan to the individuals have tracking devices installed to monitor the machine.

These companies offer individual loans for the purpose of acquiring motorcycles for major businesses.

From the beginning of this year alone, more than ten motorcycles with tracking devices have been stolen in Zombo,  according to records from Zombo  District Boda Boda Association offices.

Fred Onenarach, The Chairperson of Zombo District Boda Boda Association whilst speaking to the Whisper Eye News,  expressed his frustration with the companies that have failed to track any stolen Motorcycle.

He added that in most cases business is done between the company and each individual without association knowledge but complaints are frequently registered at their offices.

” We are expressing our frustration as members of Zombo District Boda Boda Association because many motorcycles with tracking devices are getting lost but none of these companies are recovering them. We have lost more than  10 motorcycles recently and nothing has been done” Onenarach said.

Pius Kisakwaya, a resident of Paidha Town Council blamed some companies for sleeping on their roles and responsibilities.

“We are so happy that these companies are bringing us motorcycle loans but the disappointing bit of it is that they fail to track stolen Motorcycles. It makes me think that they are the very people connecting with those thugs to steal from us,” Kisakwaya stressed.

Alfred Ogenmungu, a boda boda rider from Paidha Town Council said “When they are convincing you to get their loan  Motorcycle, you might think security for the machine is guaranteed but you see reality when it’s stolen”.

Zombo District which is along the Uganda – DR Congo border has more than 20 Porous borders.

It’s reported that many of the stolen Motorcycles easily find their way into DR Congo, through the many Porous borders complicating its tracking process.

Most companies declined to respond when contacted.

However, a lady responded to me on a toll-free number of one of the companies.

She said, ” When a bike gets lost, The Company is in touch unless otherwise the client tracker got lost. When the bike has a tracker, definitely we shall get your bike.it’s getting tough because there are some clients who tend to remove trackers”.

The asset financing companies have conditions where clients contribute a minimum of Ugx 1 million or more than 15 per cent of loans applied to acquire the asset Which comes with insurance coverage.
