A notorious hippopotamus hit a fishing boat carrying two fishermen on Lake Albert yesterday evening. #WhisperEyeNews #UgandaNews
The incident happened at Kaligonza village, Kivuje Parish Panyimur Sub-county Pakwach District.
One Sunday, said to be in his 20s, a resident of the same village was seriously injured whilst one person escaped unhurt.
The LC3 chairperson of Panyimur Sub-county Justine Omirambe said the ” two were rescued by people along the lake shores after an alarm was raised”.
Panyimur Subcounty borders Murchison Falls National Park.
According to the leadership of Panyimur Sub-county, from 2021 to date, 13 people have died in the sub-county as a result of attacks by stray animals.
Recently, two people cheated death when their boat was also hit by a stray hippopotamus on the river Nile in Pakwach town council.
Relatedly, two men died after their boat was crushed by a hippopotamus on the River Nile in Wadelai Sub-county, Early this year, one person was killed by a crocodile along the River Nile in Pakwach Sub=County.
