Pupils of Manzi primary school in Jangokoro Sub County Zombo District, have destroyed window glasses and seater desks of a classroom block after the school administration reportedly decline to provide their meals during a sports competition. #WhisperEyeNews
The vice chairperson parents and teachers association of the school Alfred Okumu confirmed the incident to whispereye news.
“The pupils went on a rampage after they spent the whole day playing matches without food and water”.
Okumu said.
He added that ” the situation was worsened after a player sustained injuries and there was no transport to rush the child to the health facility.”
It’s reported that the school Headteacher Albert Pikisa went with the sports budgeted money to buy food items for the pupils personally but disappeared. The amount was over ugx 200,0000, but he later sent around ugx 100,000 to the sports master through mobile money after the pupils had completed their games.
This incident is said to have angered the pupils who went on a rampage the following day at around 6:00 am.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of PTA manzi primary school Micheal Wedunga, blamed the school headteacher for the mess.
He said, “as parents of this school, we think the district should take this man away from this school, he intentionally did this .we have our games and sports master who would have handled everything”.
Francis Bolingo, the district councillor of Athuma sub-county who sits on the social services committee recommends that the damage caused be fixed by the school headteacher.
” As a member of the district social services committee, am not happy about what happened, I order the headteacher to fix all the damage he intentionally caused” Bolingo stressed.
Reaching out to Albert Pikisa, the Headteacher of Manzi primary school proved Futile.
After the violent strike, leaders from the Zombo district local government rushed to resolve the situation.
Recently, students of Atyak seed secondary school in Protest matched to Zombo district headquarters to present their grievances to the district Authorities over what they claim ” unfair treatment by the school administration”.
