Minister Amongi dismisses rumours that she wants to contest for NRM vice chairperson Northern Uganda

Minister of gender labour and social development Hon Betty Amongi has dismissed rumours that have been circulating that she will contest for the position of NRM vice chairperson in northern Uganda.

The position of vice chairperson national resistance Movement NRM party Northern Uganda fell vacant last year following the death of the former speaker of Parliament Hon Jacob Aulanyah who was also the Omoro county member of parliament.

Address press in Lira city over the weekend hon minister  Betty Amongi who equally double as Oyam south area member of parliament under Uganda People congress party says she fears losing her parliamentary sit if she is to cross to NRM at this time because legally it is very clear that any elected leader who happened to cross to another political party when his or her term of office exceeds one year her or she loses that political sit automatically where she said for that reason she is not ready to lose her juicy parliamentary sit for Oyam South soon.

About rumours which are also cycling that she has shown interest to contest against Minister of Health Hon Jane Ruth Aceng as Lira City woman member of parliament in 2026, Amongi refused to comment.
