Driver faces murder charges over wife’s mysterious death

Ogwaru Ricky aged 43, a resident of Alengo, trading centre, Padolo Parish Erusi Sub_County Nebbi District is being held at Nebbi Central Police Station, following the mysterious death of his wife   Achayo Gloria 38,   A Langi by tribe and a teacher at Joaquin Pedro nursery and primary school.

The body of the deceased who is said to have separated from her husband sometimes back was discovered in the morning of  Monday 24th At Olili stream in Pulaka village, Padolo Parish Erusi sub_county.

According to the West Nile Region Police Spokesperson SSP Josephine Angucia, preliminary findings indicate that the deceased received phone calls from unknown persons, left for the trading center and her body was later discovered floating on water.

” The suspect Ogwaro Ricky, 43 years, an Alur by tribe is a driver of class CM motor vehicle, resident of Alengo trading centre, Padolo parish, Erusi Subcounty in Nebbi district. It’s alleged that on the 23rd July 2023 during the evening hours while at home,  somebody called the deceased on the phone, after which she left home to go to the trading centre, claiming to go and buy medicine. However reaching the morning hours of 24th July 2023 at around 0700/c, a body was seen floating on water in Olili stream with many cut wounds on the mouth which was later identified to be that of teacher Achayo Gloria.” Angucia said in a statement.

She added that ”  the suspect was accordingly arrested and detained to assist police with investigations into the matter. Inquiries continue under Nebbi CRB 492/2023.” 

She cautioned members of the public against unlawful acts.

 “Members of the general public are advised not to unlawfully take away lives of others as it’s not accepted by the laws of our country, and anyone who does so will be arrested, charged with murder and produced before a competent court to answer to the offence.”
