Amuriat promises to resign if found guilty of getting money from state house

The tensions and rift within the Forum for Democratic Change are so far away from calming down with the situation getting out of hand each day that goes by.

Today the 26th of July 2023, the party President who is under immense pressure from the Ssemujju Nganda faction has promised to resign should the committee that was set to investigate the matter find him guilty of the allegations that he and party Secretary General Hon Nandala Mafabi received funds from State House to run the 2021 campaigns.

The committee that consists of senior elders from within the party was set up and is expected to produce the report on Friday 28th July 2023.

Speaking at one of the political programs this morning, Amuriat said he knows he is not guilty as in his entire life and 20 years of his political journey, he has never worked with or for Museveni and thus those who allege he and Nandala received money from Statehouse are only trying to character assassinate him and destroy his clean political career.

Amuriat added that what bothers him most is that the sources that funded FDC are now on tenterhooks and having sleepless nights as they fear being known by the state since the government might go hard on them and cripple their businesses.

“The whole of my political life, I have never belonged to NRM. I have shunned meetings with Museveni. The allegation that we are taking FDC to NRM is unfounded. I think our funder is sitting at the edge of his chair because if they were discovered, they will be in deep trouble. They will be punished by the State and this is what is bothering me.” Amuriat said

Amuriat also acknowledged that at this time, there are two centres of power within the FDC, one at Najjanankumbi and the other at Katonga adding that they are fighting to close to gap for the good of the party since they are all FDC.
