Five Reasons Why We Must Go And Listen To Hon. Norbert Mao At Kaunda Grounds on 22 July 2023

“Acholi pe kutu te bila onyo dongo ter bul ki Lutino gi”. A call to go listen to Hon. Norbert Mao. @norbertmao

Preamble: For over 100 years Acholi suffered neglect, subjugation and human rights abuse by almost all governments that came in. Even before independence, the British profiled Acholi. Remember the 1911, Lamogi rebellion where the British used chemical weapons to avert defeat.

From Amin to Obote and Museveni Acholi suffered. Each government saw Acholi as an opposition. The devastating war that was perpetuated by Museveni’s goons on Acholi. suspicious depletion of our trees for charcoal burning, suspicious occupation of our land by cattle keepers from Rwanda and Burundi, or Uganda allegedly deployed by some elements in power to grab the land of minerals-rich but poor Acholi people.

5 REASONS.

  1. ACHOLI ARE UNITED.

We will disappoint Our enemies and Acholi tormentors so that we are not divided. We are always we are united only in death. Let’s prove the world wrong. Even if you hate your wife, there are a few things she could have done. To me, Acholi would be extinct during the war and after. Mao and many imminent leaders in Acholi stood for us. There are more good than bad.

2. MUST KNOW GOVERNMENT PLANS.

We will get to understand the government’s truth and plans for our interests to make up our minds during elections. We will want to know the government’s plans of compensation, or reparation for Acholi after the extinction war that took two decades. We want to know if the government is serious and remorseful for the poverty and effects of war.

  1. WE WILL PROVE THAT ACHOLI ARE NOT THE OPPOSITION OR GOVERNMENT. BUT A TRIBE IN NEED OF NATIONAL CAKE.

By attending Mao’s homecoming in big numbers, We will assure the government and the world that we are united and we don’t lean on opposition or government. Our leaders, opposition or government must present our demands to the government that day without fear or favour. We are not for stupid handouts. Finally erasing the naivety that we are opposed to. Nb. From 1986, all VPS were majority Buganda and PM. As Legislative Assistant of Mao in 2001, I remember NRM approached him to choose either VP or PM, thinking of the war and believing he is opposition, he rejected. What a sacrifice

  1. WE WILL KNOW HON. MAO MORE AND HIS ROLE IN ACHOLI AGENDA SETTINGS.

We will be able to listen to the plans of Hon. Mao’s story. Every story needs a listener, when listened to, we understand. We will get to know our own who stood with us and decided to join what he made us believe it’s evil. Besides, our culture is destroyed and poverty and desperation/lack of education has downed on us, how will he end this puzzle? He is in things.

  1. ENJOY HIS IDIOMS AND DICTION IN SPEECHES.

On a lighter note, “all play no work, makes jack a dull boy,” an old adage! We will have to enjoy the old-school Acholi wisdom bestowed on Mao from birth. Late Col. Walter Ochora once said, “ if you don’t like Mao, wod pa Okee, never attend his speech, because he speaks well that even Frogs will come out to listen “.
