Mawokota humbles Gomba 1-0 in a highly entertaining home affair

The two sides kicked off this year’s campaign with respective victories and recorded a perfect start.

Mawokota humbled defending champions Busiro with a 3-1 win in the opening game held at Wankulukuku last month while Gomba picked a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ssese at Kabulasoke.

Mawokota again showcased a free-flowing football that left their home fans that turned up in large numbers yearning for more.

Although the game ended 1-0 in favor of Mawokota, the home side missed three clear chances two in the hands of goal scorer Emayu and the other missed by Matovu.

They will be seeking to continue with their perfect start when they visit Kabula on Saturday 15th July.

The weekend edition ended when Ssese drew 0-0 with Mawogola, Buvuma humbled Singo with a 2-1 win, Buluuli hammered city keepers Kyaddondo 1-0 and Kabula levelled Busiro with a 1-1 draw.

Mawokota’s win over Gomba proved that the team manager Denis Bugaya is serious with his promise of awakening the sleeping giant in Buganda Masazza Football tournament for the past few years.

Mawokota fans are back and hundreds were singing Manager Bugaya appreciates him for his efforts so far, to bring back Football joy compared to former Mawokota South MP John Bosco Lubyayi Sseguya when he was in control of the team.
