MP Zaake’s petition stalls over lack of court quorum

Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Zaake yesterday stormed the Constitutional Court demanding judgment in a 2022 petition he filed to reverse his dismissal as a Parliamentary Commissioner. #WhisperEyeNews

Zaake who was accompanied by his lawyer Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago left the court premises with a miserable face after the court’s administrator Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire informed them that the court suffered a manpower shortage on quorum following the promotion of Justice Steven Musota to the Supreme Court.

Zaake said, ” Once again, we have been to the Constitutional Court in Kampala to follow up on the Petition we filed there to challenge the mob justice I suffered in Parliament in March last year. The matter was heard in June 2022 but to date, the Court is yet to deliver its judgment despite several promises to do so ‘soon”.

He added, “We have engaged relevant authorities at the Court who have expressed regret for the delay and promised to remedy the situation. We are not, however, surprised by this inordinate delay to deliver justice in our matter because we know that the dictator has crippled all State institutions to his advantage. We shall keep pursuing the truth no matter how long it takes to achieve it.”

It should be remembered that Justice Musota was among the 5 judges on the panel that had heard Zaake’s petition.

Zaake’s dismissal came after he allegedly used his official social media handles to insult the Speaker.

A total of 155 voted to remove Zaake from the position of commissioner of parliament after being found guilty of insulting the Speaker.
