The trailer seen by the Whisper Eye News that its number plate wouldn’t be tracked had its semi-trailer falling down flat and the driver escaped with its front.

Eyewitnesses reported that the deceased was knocked dead by a rear section of the trailer that bent beyond.

The truck driver escaped after killing the 62 years old male adult identified as Alfred Okethi, a resident of Jupacora village who was from Goli trading center.

An eye witness identified as Opio Alex Ganda has attributed the incident to the reckless riding of the driver.

The deceased whose leg was badly amputated was taken for an autopsy at Nebbi general hospital.

Police were yet to release a statement in regards to the incident that was described by locals as hit and run.

The district councilor of Jupangira sub county Mugisha Felix who equally attributed the incident to reckless driving noted that the driver first locked himself inside the truck before escaping for fear of being lynched.

By press time the LC3 chairperson of Jupangira sub county Sunday Ogenmungu was at Nebbi Police to record statements as police had already launched an inquest into the Case.

Last year in the same village, a truck carrying cement destined for Paidha town in Zombo district also overturned but luckily enough no one onboard was hurt.

A recent West_Nile sub-region police report indicated that from January to April this year alone, 50 cases of road crashes had already taken place in the region.
