“Cutting AID, Travel bans won’t shake us.” Basalirwa

The anti homosexuality act 2023 is already shaking tables between the west and Uganda with foreign powers like the US, UK already taking action to punish Uganda for ascenting the bill into law.

As we report, the United States President Joe Biden has already issued a statement condemning the Uganda government for making a law that violates human rights. In his statement, he said the US government is planning to act AID and issue travel bans on a section of Uganda politicians who were at the front of seconding the law.

Yesterday 29th of May 2023, Bugiri Municipality MP Hon Asuman Basalirwa the mover of now this controversial law held a press conference at Parliament where he informed the public that the US and UK had revoked the Visas of the Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Annet Among adding that many other politicians are likely to be targeted because of this law.

Basalirwa however said that such bans and cut on AID will not threaten Uganda because in this new Era, there are always alternatives and thus if the west does not wish to send any more AID to Uganda, the country has an option of turning her face to the Arab world.

“If the west discontinues its support to Uganda, we can opt to deal with the Arab world. I will personally be on the committee that will negotiate this move with the Arab world and we inform them that our AID was cut because we do not agree with some of habits of the west ” He said

Basalirwa thanked President Museveni for taking a bold step to sign the bill into law urging the rest of the country to rally behind the President is making sure the law works as it was passed without fear or favour.
