Uganda has been selected to host the 12th High-Level oversight meeting on the Peace, Security, and Cooperation Framework for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Great Lakes Region. #WhisperEyeNews
The decision was reached yesterday during the 11th High-Level Meeting of the Regional Oversight Mechanism of the Peace, Security, and Cooperation Framework for DRC and the region.
The summit held in Bujumbura, Burundi was attended by the Heads of State and Government of the Signatory Countries of the Peace, Security, and Cooperation (PSC) Framework for the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The DRC crisis especially in the Eastern part of the country has seen large flunks of refugees crossing each day to Uganda for the past 3 decades due to the numerous number of rebel outfits in the area.
The war in the zone has led to loss of lives, destruction of property, and disruption of trade and also in some instances affecting the border communities of Uganda and Rwanda.
