Bobi Wine mute as NUP MPs granted temporary freedom

The president of National Unity Platform (NUP) Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine silence on the release of NUP MPs; Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana, and Kawempe North legislator Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya has caused suspicious in the party, and entire opposition.

It’s alleged that the pass of NUP legislators to freedom is questionable and Magere based politician Mr Wine is not happy about the way the two were released according to close sources within NUP.

On Monday 13/02/2023 Mp Ssegirinya and MP Ssewanyana were granted court bail.

It’s now about two days without any world from NUP president Mr Bobi Wine about the release of party MPs who have spent close to two years in prison.

The question here is that Mr Wine has been vocal, mounting pressure on government to free the two legislators accused of masterminding terror in greater Masaka sub region on allegations of supporting Masaka killings (Bijambia murders).

Prosecution claimed Mohammad Ssegirinya (Kawempe North MP) and Allan Ssewanyana (Makindye West) championed the killing of unarmed civilians in Masaka and near by districts while funding a terror squad commonly identified as “Bijjambiya”.

Close confidants to Bobi Wine have posted messages on Social media platforms questioning Uganda’s Leader of Opposition (LoP) Hon Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba how NUP MPs were released.

The release of these Mps has increased suspicions within Uganda’s leading opposition party which may affect its strength and support in the future.
