Customer exposes MTN Uganda for cheating him on internet data

By WhisperEye Investigative Unit

MTN Uganda has been exposed for allegedly cheating one of its customer’s data worth three gigabytes for Ugx10,000. #WhisperEyeNews

One Magara Darius says made a purchase of freedom bundle on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22 December 2022, via phone number 0787870321 but since then no single megabyte has been credited to his phone.

”Efforts through MTN WhatsApp to have the data credited have failed. The customer care advisors have kept on fooling me since Thursday last week. Up to now, no data has been credited to my line in the name of Alex Nakanyike,” Magara narrates his pain adding; ”This data is taking me two weeks. The whole of this Christmas time I could not work as I kept waiting for my data to be credited in vain.”

He says that when he raised his complaint to MTN, he was instead confused by one of the staff only known as Irene who tasked him to share, the contact number, location, phone type used, number of network bars, and date when it started, among very others.

Later, Magara says another staff known as Barbie informed him that data was successfully credited and for that reason, his money wouldn’t be refunded.

After Barbie, one Fesa also sent Magara a message informing him that checks on INC2406280 showed the activation of freedom bundles worth 1.5GB on 256787870321 was done on the 21st and 22nd successfully.

Magara says after threatening to visit the MTN offices, he was sent another message this time by a one Flavia stating;

”Kindly give us the reference number that you were given and elaborate more on the issue because you have just contacted us on this platform today at 7;28pm and we are not aware of the issue. The last time you contacted us on this platform was on 28th November. Please let us know which platform you reported this issue on and give us the reference number for follow-up. MTNFlavia.”
