M23 not a criminal gang, says Gen Muhoozi

First son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has come out once again to defend the Eastern DRC bases rebel group the M23 calling them a friendly group that is simply fighting for the rights of Tutsi Congolese who are dehumanized by the government in Kinshasa.

Muhoozi has called on the Kinshasa government to simply engage in peace talks with the leaders of the M23 other than using military means to settle the disputes.

“Nobody should mock our brothers in M23, I heard some people saying that they can defeat them in a day? Okay. That’s what Obote used to say about NRA in Luweero. When we convince them to withdraw for peace. They shall do it because they are serious partners for peace in DRC.” He said

As fighting intensified in Eastern DRC, the M23 have captured territory of recent in the region but talks have started between Kinshasa and Kigali that are aimed at using diplomatic means to end the crisis.

Kinshasa has forlong accused Kigali of supporting the M23 to fight while Kigali has also been accusing Kinshasa for supporting FDLR a HUTU dominated rebel group that wants to overthrow the government of Rwanda.

Former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyata is among the top world icons that are taking centre stage to make sure that peace returns in Eastern DRC.
