Gen Elly Kayanja in land row with Wakiso locals he bought at 110 billion in July this year

Former operation Wembly director Rt Major Gen Elly Kayanja is in fresh land disputes with locals of Bulindo village in Wakiso District who claim the 2 star General is forcing them to flee off the land he bought from a one Japhes M. B Wagumbulizi.

The contested land is 559 acres which Kayanja says bought each acre at 200 million shillings hence paying 110 billion shillings on July 5th this year.

However the locals say, Kayanja illegally bought this land as they have land titles to prove that they own each a piece of the land under contestation. Over 4000 residents have now petitioned the lands Minister Judith Nabakooba and the Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola to come and save the situation which seems to still be escalating.

Part of the purchases agreement between Gen Kayanja and Mr Wagumbulizi reads “The total purchase price (Shs111.6b) for all the contract land has been paid by the purchaser (Maj Gen Kayanja) to the vendor (Wagumbulizi) and the vendor hereby acknowledges receipt of the same by appending his usual and unrehearsed signature hereto …”

Mr Johnson K. Tusiime signed as witness for the seller while Eng Daniel Ssekitto appended his signature as the general’s witness of the transaction endorsed by Bulindo Village vice chairman Michael Kasozi.

Making matters worse, more than 4 individuals have come out to claim that they won the land saying that Mr. Wagumbulizi illegally sold the land to the General.

Since Kayanja started cultivating part of the land, three more caveats have been placed on it; on August 3 by Mr Michael Lupampa, claiming to be a beneficiary, another on August 9 by Mr James Kagenda Ssemakula, who claims an interests as “others” and the last on August 15 by a one Margret Nalweyiso.

We shall keep you posted.
