According to UPDF web, Operation Shujaa forces while conducting tracking action against ADF splinter groups in Eastern DRC today, put out of action three Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists who were marauding in Ntoroko-Mboga in Ituri province 14Kms South East of Mboga town.
Under the command of Lt Col Deus Williams Achungwire, the 7 Mountain Battalion commander, the joint forces cornered the ADF remnants who had infiltrated the remote villages looting food stuffs and terrorizing communities.
Other items recovered after the fire fight included; 02 SMGs, 34 rounds of ammunitions, 02 empty magazines, 01 mobile phone, 02 Simcards (Airtel and Vodacom), 01 Accumulator Battery, 01 machetes, 0.5 Liters of petrol and 01 pair of FARDC uniform.
This success follows the killing of two ADF commanders on 14th August 2022 almost in the same region 07 Kms West of Mboga between Malibongo and Maraya.
The ADF commanders killed were Juruga Ahmed from Yumbe district and one ADF foreign fighter only identified as Abdul from Somalia.
In that joint onslaught, 02 SMGs, a walkie talkie radio, 04 improvised explosive devices and 03 Koran were recovered from ADF.
Lt Col Deus Achungwire says, the splinter groups of ADF now marauding the villages aim at looting food stuffs and terrorize villagers for publicity purpose. “Their targets are specially to loot food and acquire medicine. They use machetes to hack one or two civilians for publicity purposes. Otherwise, ADF has lost cohesion and will to fight in this sector. We have neutralized the marauding splinter ADF terrorists in our rear of Burasi, Kyamugambi and Kyabwohe and now people have returned to their secured villages,” Lt Col Achungwire explained.
