Big Heart: MP Nkunyingi spends a night in the cold with stranded Ugandans on Dubai streets

Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Hon Nkunyingi Muwada spent the whole of Wednesday night on the Dubai streets with stranded suffering Ugandans who sleep on a daily basis in open spaces due to lack of jobs and inability to afford sleeping spaces.

The Kyadondo East MP said these are mostly young girls who say they were defrauded by Uganda Labour export companies that promised them jobs but simply dumped them in Dubai.

He added that govt has not done enough to save these people with most girls resorting to prostitution as a means of survival.

He also added that even those who would wish to secure passports and re-apply for work permits do not have application fee money worth 250,000shs and also cannot afford to transport themselves to the Uganda Embassy in Abu Dhabi which is 100s of miles away.

Muwada says he wants the government to wake up and think about its people who are living as half-humans to save them from the tragedies because labour export companies defrauding Ugandans is a weakness of the government that has not done enough to regulate these companies.

MP Muwada replaced Hon Robert Kaygulanyi Ssentamu as MP Kyadondo East in the 2021 electons.
