In the year 2014, the UN General Assembly declared July 15 as the annual World Skills Day, purposely to celebrate the strategic relevance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship.
This day has not yet been widely popularized by different Governments including Uganda and beside the different skilling efforts by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and programmes embedded with in Uganda’s Vision 2040 and the Uganda National Development Plan 2, among others, it is therefore on this background that we hold the National Youth Skills Devt & Employment Expo 2022 to recognize these efforts as well deliberate on the gaps and find collective solutions as youth of Uganda, but also give policy recommendations to the duty bearers and other different stake holders involved in skill including international development agencies like GIZ, USAID, Caritas Denmark, EU among others. Says Mr AKAMPA RUGABA Johnson Tanbull, the Associate Director Youth Advocacy Foundation Uganda-YAFU, the lead convening Youth Centred development agency.

This year’s National Skills Devt and Employment Expo, themed: “Post COVID-19 Opportunities and Linkages for youth” is co- convened by National Youth Advocacy Platform (NYAP), Community Integrated Development Initiatives (CIDI), Youth Alive Uganda and with support from Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), UAP Old Mutual, Centenary bank, Ministry of Gender, Labour & Social Development (MoGLSD), National Youth Council (NYC), URSB among others.
