The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA Uganda) organized a three-day workshop to train Mpigi district local government leaders on how to implement government programs as a way to eradicate poverty in the district.

The workshop was held at the National Farmers Leadership Centre (NFLC) at Kampiringisa in Kammengo Sub County, Mpigi.

Mpigi district production officer Mr. Sserwadda James Patrick asked leaders to understand all government programs to supervise the implementation process.

“You have the obligation of mobilizing people to take part in all government programs and supervise the implementation process,” says Mr. Sserwadda.

“The best way you can supervise government programs in your electoral areas is understanding these programs,” he added.

Mr. Sserwadda focused on the ongoing Parish Development Model (PDM) and during the session, he presented a detailed report about the PDM.

Some of the district councilors raised concerns about the PDM asking the government to sensitize parish development model Sacco leaders.

“I would like to appreciate the facilitators Mr. Kazibwe Ronald and Mr. Sserwadda for the presentation,” says Mr. Kasule Frank the chairperson of LC. III Buwama Sub County.

“I request the government to organize more training for all parish development model Sacco leaders,” he requested.

Sserwadda James Patrick Mpigi District production officer also attended the training

Mpigi District Commercial Officer Mr. Kazibwe Ronald told local government political leaders in Mpigi that no one can fail the government program.

“No one can fail a government program,” Mr Kazibwe added.

“Your role is not to weigh this program whether it will work or not, No! Your role is to mobilize all subsistence residents of Mpigi district to benefit from this program under your supervision,” he explained.

Mpigi District is among the best performing districts in Uganda in implementing the Parish Development Model.
