The Pork Day event is slated to take place on Friday 8th July 2022 at the Agriculture Development Center (ADC) near Nsamizi Institute in Mpigi Town Council under the theme: “Enhancing piggery production and productivity through modern husbandry practices and value addition”.
Mpigi District Veterinary doctor, Dr. Kasibule Daniel who doubles as the president of Uganda Veterinary Association told Whisper Eye News that they have organized a one-day piggery workshop to improve piggery farming in the district by improving piggery production and productivity through morden husbandry practices and value addition ahead of Parish Development Model ( PDM) implementation.
“We want our farmers to use the Parish Development Model to adopt modern husbandry practices and value addition in order to increase their profits,” says Dr. Kasibule.
“This is a unique setup, I may say. We are going to have detailed training for our farmers which will help them improve on piggery farming as a way of fighting poverty,” he added.
According to our sources intimated to Mpigi district, the organizers have also organized a meal with pork for the day.
In March 2021, Dr. Daniel Kasibule, who was the Vice-President of the Uganda Veterinary Association (UVA) was elected the president, replacing Dr. Baluka Syliva who served two terms from 2017.
