Security has arrested David Lewis Rubongoya, the National Unity Platform Secretary-General, and detained by press time was being detained at Nateete Police station.

According to reports, the Harvard-trained lawyer was arrested on allegations of threatening violence in the just recently concluded Omoro by-election.

Mr. Gordon Agaba, the personal driver of David Lewis was also arrested.

Mr. David Lewia stated to Whisper Eye that he was first detained briefly at Wandegeya police station before y being rearrested at Natete police station.

“Today morning while driving via Wandegeya with my driver Agaba Gordon, a traffic officer stopped us and claimed that my car is wanted on allegations of having committed a crime during the recently concluded by-election in Omoro,” a statement was also posted on his Twitter account.

“We were briefly arrested at Wandegeya Police station & later I was released & proceeded to attend Hon Ssegirinya & Sewanyana’s court. However, Gordon was later driven to Natete Police Station. After court, I passed by Natete Police Station to follow up & I’ve also been re-arrested,” the statement further stated
