Covid 19 on the rise, Minister Aceng tells Ugandans to be more vigilant

Information from the Ministry of Health shows that Uganda’s covid 19 cases are on a rise for the last two months something that is likely to affect the health sector in the coming months. #News #Uganda #WhisperEyeNews

Minister Jane Ruth Aceng has come out to warn Ugandans to be more vigilant and start following the standard operating procedures to curb the spread of the virus.

“We have started experiencing an increase in the daily number of COVID-19 cases compared to the stable trends we observed since January 2022. This increase is similar to the rise we faced in June 2021 when the Delta variant was prevalent.” Aceng said

She added that however as a country, Uganda is well prepared to respond and save lives than before adding that there is no indication of travel restrictions, or lockdown in the current circumstances making it clear that the ministry will optimize the existing control & mitigation tools at personal & community levels.

These measures include vaccination for all individuals, wearing of face masks at all times, especially for the vulnerable population, and, hand washing.

Results of COVID-19 tests done on 6 June 2022 confirm 69 new cases. The cumulative confirmed cases is 165,803.

The breakdown of the new cases is:
69 Alerts and Contacts; Kampala (58), Wakiso (4), Mukono (2), Amuru (1), Mbarara (2), Kyotera (1), Jinja (1)

Results of COVID-19 tests done on 5 June 2022 confirm 34 new cases. The cumulative confirmed cases are 165,734.

The breakdown of the new cases is:

34 Alerts and Contacts: Kampala (32), Wakiso (1), Gulu (1)

Aceng says every after day, the covid positive cases keep increasing with the numbers expected to triple in the coming months should Ugandans fail to adhere to the guidelines.
