“Together we must decisively deal with the monstrous repression and suppression now extended to the supposed temple of justice,” he said on Thursday morning, urging all forces of change to work very hard and come together.
Alluding to the incoming threats from the government to activists, Erias Lukwago pointed out three incidents and the fourth that are putting out the action of players that stand against common man voice;
1) Court slammed an unconscionable fine of Ugx 300m onto Maverick Male Mabirizi ostensibly for contempt of court. He refused to pay and opted to challenge it at the Appellate court and he was put out of action.
2) The Hon. Ssewanyana Allan and Ssegirinya Muhammad were ordered by court to deposit a cash bail of Ugx 20m each which they paid but are still incarcerated at Kigo Prisons.
3) Dr. Kizza Besigye was yesterday directed by court to cough a whooping sum of Ugx 30m on a flimsy charge of incitement to violence. He justifiably declined to pay and is pursuing an appeal against the same but was also put out of action.
4) who is next?
The three-term current Lord mayor and former Kampala Central MP was tweeting after representing col Dr. Kizza Besiyge at Buganda Road court yesterday.
His remarks come after the Buganda Road Court magistrate Owomugisha granted cash bail to Dr. Kizza Besigye to a tune of 30 million UGX which he denied to pay and opted for remand.
On Tuesday, Forum for Democratic changer founder Dr. Kizza Besigye together with Mukakaku Samuel Walter a former presidential candidate were arrested after protesting against high commodities prices in Kampala.
The judiciary under spot is yet to react to its a grade one magistrate unconscionable cash bail of Ugx 30m against Kizza Besigye in a mere case of incitement to violence.
