Besigye who earlier told the press that this was part II of the 2011 walk-to-work protests was dragged back to his home and immediately put under house arrest.

While launching his protests, Besigye said he expected the government to do something about the skyrocketing prices but instead those concerned are just seated in their offices because they ain’t affected financially.

“The regime is expected to use violence to stop us but if we get organized, we can lock them up.” He said

The rising prices for the different commodities in Uganda have left many stranded with some failing to afford some of the essential commodities like soap whose price tripled.

The government says the cause of the ever skyrocketing prices is the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine as well as Covid 19 which shuttered the supply chain.
