The government has expressed concern over the gross mismanagement and embezzlement of public funds in Wakiso District Local Government. #WhisperEyeNews #Uganda #UgandaNews
Yesterday, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Office of the President started off a week-long monitoring exercise on both Central and Local government projects across Wakiso District Local Government to assess value for money for the ongoing and implemented government projects.
During the district tour today; the Ministers of State for Economic Monitoring Peter Ogwang and that of General Duties in the office of the Prime Minister Justine Kasule Lumumba, established that even some of the accounted projects for some of the past years never exist.
In Bulyaana Village, Bemba Parish, Namayumba Sub County, the team established that no borehole was constructed at the said village despite accountabilities in the District work plan by the Eng. Isaac Galabuzi.
At Namayumba Town Council, the team ordered for the Engineering Audit to establish value for money after over 150m Shs has been already spent despite missing out on some procurement procedures.
At Nakitotolo Health Centre lll, the team has recommended the Senior District Eng. Lilian Namutebi as the overall supervisor be detained to help in investigations of missing funds spent on non-finished health workers’ houses in addition to the substandard work done that has left the health Centre block cracked even before commissioning among others.
