What have found in Mpigi is poverty, I now I have discovered the major cause which is politics,” says Mr. Ssempala.

“You can not start campaigns in 2022 yet elections are in 2026, no. Wait until 2026 then you do politics,” he added.

The RDC made his remarks after three women declared their interest to contest for the Mpigi Woman MP seat, which turned the function into a campaign rally, saying it is too early for politics.

“It is too early for campaigns, those organizing their political parties now, it is okay I have no issues with you, NRM leaders organize our party I have no issues with you, but general campaigns I don’t expect you to start politics now,” Mr. Ssempala explained.

“Use government programs to help your families. There are many government programs like Emyooga, ever since I came to the district I’m signing Emyooga funds. Many people who have failed to benefit from this program are in politics every time,” he said.
