Greater Mpigi Journalists Association (MPJA) has voted Mpigi district woman MP hon Teddy Nambooze as the best media-friendly legislator in the region.#Uganda #UgandaNews #WhisperEyeNews
According to the polls conducted by Colloquium Research Buearual (CRB) in the region, Hon Nambooze scored 37.2%, followed by Gomba East legislator hon Saazi Godfrey with 20.6%. The leading researcher of Colloquium Research Buearual Mr. Maddo Isaac told Whisper Eye News that they looked at many Issues, including; the availability of the legislator when needed by the Journalists, media relationships, interview time, and violation of media freedom cases.
Mawokota North MP Hillary Innocent Kiyaga popularly known as Hilderman came third with 20%, while Mawokota South Mp counsel Yusuf Nsibambi was fourth with 19.2%. Others shared 3% according to the research.
Whisper Eye News interviewed Mugonza Andrew a member of MPIJA and said that all legislators in the region have good relations with the media, but hon Nambooze emerged as the best among the top best.
“We have no cases where legislators in the region collide with journalists, no! But looking at the research questions, I concur with my fellow journalists’ decision,” says Mugonza.
“I call upon all legislators in the country to fight for media freedom, since it’s one of the yardsticks to measure democracy,” he added.
The supreme journalist body Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) must move forward to protect journalists against torture in the country.
The research also revealed that security organs are the leading agents to violate media freedom followed by politicians.
