Morrocco beats Uganda 5-2 to end the Cranes road in the CHAN Tournament

Fate once again followed the cranes as far as the CHAN Tournament is concerned. The cranes have maintained their poor performance after failing to go past the group stages once again as it has always happened in the past.

The Cranes came into this game with a must win target if they were to highlight their chances of going past the group stages. However things didn’t go as planned as the defending Champions Morrocco destroyed the East African giants in a humiliating way.

The Cranes were the first to test the tip of happiness thanks to a wonderful strike by Ibrahim Orit in the 25th minute. However the Morroccans put the cranes keeper under constant bombardments with the cranes defence makes lots of mistakes just like it has been happening in the past two group openers. In the first half stoppage time, defender Mutafa Mujuzi made a hauler after wreckesly handling the ball in the box that gave the Morroccans a lee way to equalize through the penalty kick. First half ended 1-1

The cranes perfomance deteriorated the more in the 2nd half going as far as failing to make 5 complete passes to one another especially in the opponents half. The Morrocans utilized the loopholes catching the cranes on a break and in the 51st minute, the cranes paid a high Price as they conceded the 2nd goal through Soufiani Rahimi.

The cranes looked like they had already succumbed to the defeat as the Morroccans missed several clear goal scoring opportunities and the good one on one situation of the Cranes keeper gave the cranes a life line for some time to avoid the humiliation.

In the 71st minute, salt was added in the cranes wound as they conceded the 3rd goal.. Soufiani Rahimi added the 4th goal breaking the cranes the more.

However four minutes later, the cranes scored their second thanks to a wonderful shot from Sayid Kyeyune through a magical well planned set piece.

In Stoppage time, the cranes were finally destroyed through an own goal by Keeper Charles Lukwago who was attempting to block a low cross by the Morroccan winger.

The cranes lost 5-2 that automatically put them out of the Tournament.

Cranes coach is once again facing public criticism over his team selection and technical abilities with many thinking he may be too young and unexperienced for such a huge job considering the Cranes aspirations.

The Cranes exit meant that they have failed to go past the group stages since their first appearance in the tournament in 2011.
