Togo Defeats Uganda Cranes in Second CHAN Match

Uganda Cranes have suffered defeat to Togo in their second game at the on-going Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Douala, Cameroon.

After the 2-1 defeat to Togo at the Reunification Stadium on Friday night, Uganda Cranes are now on the brink of elimination.

After a goalless first half, Uganda Cranes defender Paul Patrick Mbowa deflected the ball past his goalkeeper Charles Lukwago after 48 minutes to make it 1-0 for Togo.

But the Uganda Cranes moments later Saidi Kyeyune who had replaced Tony Mawejje leveled matters after 51 minutes with a  stunning long range shot from out-side the box. He gave the Togolese goalkeeper Abdoul-Moubarak Aigba.

The two teams continued to build up attack in search of more goals before Togo made it 2-1. Yendoulie Richard Nane restored Togo’s lead in the 58th minute with a well taken left footed dipping volley from outside the box.

But the Ugandan team continued to attack in numbers with Kyeyune and Muhamad Shaban all missing the target.

Uganda Cranes who have never qualified from the group stage in their last four appearances in CHAN will need to convincingly beat the reigning champions Morocco in their last game on January 26th if they are to have a chance.

The CHAN tournament is played by players who feature in only their home based Leagues
