James Mubiru, the imprisoned National Unity Platform (NUP) Lubaga North Coordinator, former Lubaga North MP aspirant for the NUP ticket, and candidate in Lubaga North III Lord Councilor V has been massively voted to represent the electoral area in Kampala Capital City Authority.

James Mubiru is one of the supporters of NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine who was arrested in the Mbale District in January after Bobi Wine had acquired new close confidants to move with.

James Mubiru was asked by officials of NUP to stepdown for Lord Conillorship post in favor of KCCA Speaker Kawalya Abubaker who went ahead to defeat Betty Kamya of NRM, and incumbent Kasibanate Moses

Emmanuel Ddungu Kayemba, one of Mubiru’s agents, notes that his arrest made his campaigns very difficult despite the fact that he was the NUP candidate, he says the other leadership of NUP led by Abubaker Kawalya the Lubaga North MP-elect on the NUP ticket was not backing Mubiru James preferring Ssetimba Joseph a local journalist . Emma further adds Mubiru had left behind a big team led a one Mbogo which went ahead to work tooth and nail to ensure James Mubiru defeats all his competitors.

Mbogo Brian, a friend to Mubiru says that during his absence, people and people power diehards and NUP supporters and leaders like Kamama Sandrah vigorously campaigned for him and also paid agents who were at each polling station on his behalf.

James Mubiru obtained 8,195 votes while his main challenger Gulukande a DJ with BBS TV got only 1500 votes while Ssetimba Jospeh independent who was backed and financially supported by Kawalya Abubaker got only 630 votes coming in a distant fifth position.
