National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate in Mukono municipality Hon Betty Nambooze is leading the race with 54% according to opinion polls.

MP Nambooze, who is seeking a third term in parliament, together with 10 other legislators defected from DP to NUP, citing lack of internal democracy in their party.

Other contenders are Mr Dunstan Eddy Mbogo of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and independents; Zirimala Kiggundu, Edward Balikuddembe, Hadijja Ndagire Nakanja and Seera Nishaba who share 11.8%.
