Former Bukonzo East M P in Kasese District Yokas Bihande Bwamble arrested

Former Bukonzo East Member of Parliament in Kasese District Yokas Bihande Bwamble has been arrested.

Bihande was arrested on Thursday evening from Bundibugyo District.

He was arrested together with the National Unity platform-NUP flag bearer for Bughendera County Sunday Apollo while addressing a mini rally in Ngaba Sub County.

The Bundibugyo DPC Taban Swaibu told URN reporter that its too early to give details of the arrests to the media.

However, he points out that the security personnel in the district did not expect the former legislator from Kasese to be in the district for political activities.

Frankline Muhindo the NUP Bundibugyo district coordinator said they had camped at Bundibugyo police station to get details about the arrest of their candidate.

He condemned the arrest adding that it is a set back for their candidate as he made final rallies for next week’s polls.

According to information availed by Bihande’s wife who is also Kasese District Woman Member of Parliament Winnie Kiiza, her husband was arrested while soliciting for  the Alliance for  Transformation-ANT presidential candidate Mugisha Muntu.

“A joint operation of the Uganda Police and the Uganda people’s Defence Forces have arrested my husband Hon. Bwambale Yokasi Bihande, when he was canvassing for votes for Major Mugisa Muntu in Bundibigyo District. Kiiza posted on her facebook page.

Bihande, served in parliament since 2006 to 2016 when he lost the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party primaries to Harold Tony Muhindo.
