US Ambassador shies away to condemn Nicholas Opiyo’s arrest. Whisper Eye Reports.

The United States envoy to Uganda Natalie E. Brown has reacted at the arrest of Uganda’s top human rights lawyer, Nicholas Opiyo.

Ms. Natalie said the news of Nicholas Opiyo’s arrest was troubling and also tasked the Uganda government to ensure his safety and well-being.

Nicholas Opiyo was arrested yesterday by plained armed clothed security men at Kamwokya suburb together with three other colleagues who we have learned are also lawyers and members of the Uganda Law Society.

According to the new US Ambassador to Uganda, He meant Nicholas a few days ago and she was impressed by his commitment to rule of law.

She distanced herself from condemning his arrest or calling for his immediate release as many other organizations and leaders have totally called for.

Police also confirmed that it was behind the arrest of Opiyo the executive director of Chapter Four and he will be facing money laundering charges among other malicious acts in a statement it posted on its Facebook.

By Press time Nicholas was still held at Special Investigative Unit in Kireka
