NRM’s Lumumba moves to sue journalists defaming her over corruption allegations. Whisper Eye Reports
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) SG Justine Kasule Lumumba wants government to rein on journalist that are spreading misinformation against her and the ruling NRM party.
According to Kasule Lumumba Lawyers of Anguria & Co. Advocates , three letters have been dispatched to Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) , Media Council and CID asserting that Lumumba has been the latest victim of a sustained choreographed disinformation and misinformation campaign by a section of the public identifying themselves as bloggers, journalists and editors operating online news publications.
Kasule Lumumba lawyers are asking UCC dirctor Irene Kaggwa Ssewankamabo to evoke its powers under the Uganda Communications Act , 2013 as the regulator of the country’s online communications.
Lumumba lawyers want UCC to avail them with full particulars of online publications that she accuses of defaming their client to enbale them inistute legal proceedings.
By Press time UCC was yet to respond to her letter.
Various online articles accused Lumumba of faking her covid-19 positive tests to invade scrutiny for what many called running away from affairs of the NRM secretariat.
According to chimp reports , Lumumba troubles stem from a conflict with a renowned landlords that the NRM has not yet paid rent for numerous offices in the city.
