UJA Elections: Lubowa fails to pay nomination fees, two step down for Rukundo Mathias the newly elected UJA president. Whisper Eye Reports

Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) members have elected Vision Group based journalist Rukundo Mathias as the new president today at their head offices in Kawempe, Kampala.

His major competitor Mr Lubowa Abubakar a photo journalist attached to the Daily Monitor failed to pay nomination fees of 400,000/=.

Other two contestants Mr Kasule Farouq and Kasasa Moses paid nomination fees and were cleared to contest but stepped down for Mr Rukundo.

Immediately after his election as unopposed Mr Rukundo promised to work together with all Journalists in Uganda.

” We must work together as journalists to improve the welfare, in my manifesto I want to put much emphasis on our fellow Journalists in upcountry areas,” says Mr Rukundo.

“Our challenges are the same we need a collective effort,” he added.

Mr Musoke Ben the UJA Elections Returning Officer has declared those elected and asked them to follow key tenets of Democracy in the leadership.

The guest of honour the head of Global Peace Foundation Uganda Chapter Ambassador Kambula Milton has applauded Mr Rukundo for his efforts to promote UJA.

Mr Milton has offered him self to help UJA new leadership to change the leaders of the supreme Journalists body in the county.
