Election Violence: Minister Kasolo vows to kill to stay as MP, his bodyguard kills one opponent supporter

Uganda state minister for Microfinance who doubles as Kyotera County MP haji Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo vowed to do anything even if it requires to kill to retain his parliamentary seat.

MP haji Kasolo warned last week after a group of boda boda riders at Bubiro Stage in Kalisizo Town Council laughed at him, saying that he is posed to be defeated in the forthcoming elections.

Minister’s vow come true on Friday evening at Nakatoogo as his body guards and police killed a supporter of Mpalanyi JohnPaul Lukwago, his political rival in the race.

Kayabula Richard a resident of Ntovu, in Nabigassa sub county was assassinated in cold blood.

The deceased was shot thrice in the fore head and killed on spot.

An Eye Witness told Whisper Eye news that on Friday Mr Kasolo was to hold campaigns in Lwankoni sub county and Mr Mpalanyi was to be in Nabigassa sub county as per the harmonised Electoral Commission program.

“We were surprised to see Minister’s (Hon Kasolo) body guards in Nakatoogo town in Nabigassa yet we had come for Mr Mpalanyi’s rally,” says the Eye Witness.

“They started throwing teargas canisters in air, and then firing live bullets, few minutes after the incident police officers joined them, it the situation become too difficult. Everyone at the rally run to save own life,” he added.

Minister’s body guards and police officers disrupted Mr Mpalanyi’s rally at Nakatoogo town, in Nabigassa an incident that led to the death of Mr Kayabula in the process.

Residents of Kyotera are appealing to the Electoral Commission to come in to save lose of innocent lives during the ongoing campaigns in the area.

Haji Haruna Kasolo is campaigning for the third term as the area MP.
