Uganda Cranes midfielder Mike Azira leaves MLS side Chicago Fire FC.
The 33-year old took to social media to confirm the development after expiry of his season-long contract after joining them in the 2018/19 season from Montreal Impact.
Chicago Fire was Azira’s fourth club in Major League Soccer after spells with Montreal Impact, Colorado Rapids and Seattle Sounders.
Gifted with composure in the middle of the park, Azira is a graduate of SC Villa Jogoo before he left in 2008.
Chicago Fire FC finished 11th in the Eastern Conference with 23 points from as many games. Azira, represented Uganda at the 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments in Gabon and Egypt respectively.
He is part of the Cranes team for South Sudan encounter in Kenya on Monday, having featured in the 1-0 win at St Mary’s stadium Kitende against the same opponents on Thursday.
