Lt Col Nakalema arrests Lawyer Ambrose Tebyasa as lawyers body protest. Whisper Eye Reports.

City renown Lawyer Mr Tebyasa Ambrose was picked by a group of security officers heavily armed from his office arrested and jailed.

According to reports, Mr Tebyasa was arrested by Lt Col Edith Nakalema the head of State House based Anti Corruption Unit.

“Counsel Ambrose Tebyasa was picked from his office that his only crime was to represent Dodo in court,” says the source.

Uganda Law Society organisation has demanded constitutional rights of Mr Tebyasa.

The statement signed by Uganda Law Society president Pheona Nabalasa Wall reads “Since the arrest on Saturday 26th September 2020, Mr Tebyasa has been dined his constitutional rights to know the charge against him and to have access to counsel contrary to the constitutional command in Article 28(3) of the 1995 Constitution of Uganda which clearly states that any person who is charged with a criminal offence shall be informed immediately, in a language they understand, of the natura of the offence they have committed.

“It further states that, any person who is arrested shall be permitted to appear before the court in person or, at that person’s expense, by a lawyer of his/ her own choice,” the statement reads further.

The clear reasons for his arrest are not yet known as of now.
